Today is my second to last day of this project. sad.
Anyways... yesterday I did a couple thrift stores runs, and I must say that I got one of my best finds yet. A hardly used REI jacket that is rainproof, which is exactly what I have been looking for. And the best part (besides it being hardly used)... is that it was marked as $4.99, but it was 50% off day, so it only cost $2.99. I would say that's a pretty darn good deal. And I love it. It's perfect for rain or snow which is perfect for where I am going this week.

I got my permit yesterday!!
Finally, after a year and a half of living in California, I can finally drive!
My permit's not as pretty or fancy as my Washington one, but at least it's a permit!

I'm a failure. I stayed up late and kept telling myself that I had to take a picture before I went to bed, but of course I forgot... oh well

today was "organize all your piano music" day. It took me a while, but it's all organized and neatly placed on top of the piano. This was during the process.

Stephanie and I got these jars full of jewelry at the thrift store. Each jar was only $2.25 with the whole thing filled. I would say it was a pretty good deal.

a necklace I got at the thrift store last weekend. Well, the heart is actually a pin, but I like it better as a necklace.

Sunday night Stephanie, Taylor and I went to Vintage Faith Church and then hung out in the Abbey afterwards. We got coffee, and listened to the open mic performance. The girl had a good voice, but I just enjoyed having fun with two of my best friends.
One of the songs she sang/wrote was called "Stranger in Seattle." It was about a boy she saw on the bus and fell in love with for 5 minutes. It was cute. I just really loved the 'stranger in Seattle' line.

only 15 more days left.
Yesterday I came home from school and there was this giant present by the tree. I asked my mom who it was for and she told me to go look at it, so I did, and it said:
but if anyone has ANY idea of what it could possibly be, I would love to hear what you think.

"to: Emily
from: mom & dad"
I was shocked, and still am actually. I don't remember asking for anything that was taller than I am or even close. Everything I asked for could probably fit in a shoe box or something even smaller. And so, I have no idea what in the world this present could possibly be, but now I have to look at it and wonder what's in it for the next 11 days. This is going to be a very tough week and a half.but if anyone has ANY idea of what it could possibly be, I would love to hear what you think.

Last night I was just chillin' with the dogs in the backyard and was randomly taking pictures. This is one of them. I don't know why, but I just like the way the colors and lighting turned out.

I have spent all morning revising and finalizing the second draft of my senior exhibition paper. Now I have a headache and I never want to look at it again.
But it's a very nice today though. The sun is out, there's blue skies and fall colored leaves are falling from trees.
Finals week starts tomorrow and I'm starting to get sick. This is not good.

We bought our tree yesterday (a Noble fir, just like my cabin at camp). Now it really feels like Christmas. This is my piano ornament. I love it

Thursday I received this huge book from some visual arts school in New York. It was pretty much an ad for their school and a total waste of money. Because I don't remember signing up to get anything from them and I have no interest in going there. So now I have this huge book full of random art that I have no idea what to do with.

Things I like:
-when my dog sleeps currled up in the corner
-playing "spy" with kids while having my camera be a lazer
today after church I played with little Anthony. I let him use my camera to take picture and it ended up being used as a lazer in which he continued to chase and shoot me. It was fun.

Since I missed yesterday I shall post two for today. It's the same picture but one's in black and white.
I spent a good part of today figuring out and learning how to play "Back to December" by Taylor Swift. I'm proud to say I finally got it down and I can't stop playing it and trying to sing along.
also, only 25 more days of this challenge. I'm trying to think what I should do when it's all over.

so, the proofs for my senior portraits came, and this may be one of the hardest decisions of my life. I mean, the one I choose is pretty much only for the yearbook because I'm going to take my own in the spring, but still... it is very hard to choose.
Also, I'm pretty sure I'm not aloud to take a picture of these and post them since they clearly state DO NOT COPY all over every copy, but oh well.

this is a tote bag that I got at The Abbey when I went to Vintage Faith on sunday. I really love it.

Hi, my name is Emily, and sometimes I really hate cleaning my room.
By the way, all the clothes on the floor are actually clean, I've been too lazy to put them away.

I got this chapstick at the mystery spot. duh.
And obviously this is a last minute picture which was take at like 11:30 last night, or something like that. I was too busy watching The Buried Life season finale (so sad) and writing exciting things in my journal.

Good Day!
I started off the day by attending Vintage Faith Church again. I would just like to say that I love that place. Absolutely love it. I love the people, the coffee at the Abbey, the music, the preaching... everything. I wish I lived in Santa Cruz so I could go there every week.
Then I had a photoshoot with my sister. What I like to call a sistashoot!
And finally, I ended the day by buying a hat, scarf and leggings for the winter at H&M and Forever 21. Now I will hopefully keep warm this winter.

Went to The Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz. Super cool place, and totally mind blowing. I can't even describe to you what it is. So look it up. But yes, Lauren is definitely leaning that far off of the table.
332/65
Went to camp for a weekend away. Since it's been freezing, I spent the evening drinking hot chocolate, watching t.v. and enoying the warm fire.

Thanksgiving!
Just us, the Birksfam. It was a quiet and cozy day. I ate more mashed potatoes than I probably should, and finished the day with a nice walk through the dog park. It was another beautiful day, minus the cold.

On Wednesday Tucker left. So before he left we spent the afternoon showing him around the city one last time. It was a beautiful day!

popcorn!
random thought of the day that wouldn't leave my mind: I hate snow, but for some reason I wish so badly that I could be in Seattle right now, playing in it and having snow days. Instead I get freezing cold days without the snow, along with heavy winds and rain. boo. So to all my out of state friends... I am beyond jealous of you at the moment.

Yesterday I went to a studio to get my senior portraits taken. I'm really happy with how they turned out and I can't wait to order them and give them to people. Beforehand I got my makeup done at Origins, and I was happy with how that turned out as well. After my portraits we got ice cream and I had the best chocolate ice cream I've ever had in my entire life.
All in all, it was a good day.
This is me all fancy-ed up.

yesterday was a great day with great friends. We went to Pier 30 and Fort Point and I'm so happy that the sun was out and the sky was clear. It was beautiful!
then we came home and crashed. And by crashed I mean we all piled onto my bed and pretended like we were taking a nap.

Friday night Tucker arrived and the Coverts came over. Taylor and I got my bed... Claire and Lauren slept on the floor.
324/365
On Thursdsay I saw a pre-showing of Harry Potter before it came out. We got these pretty nifty badges along with goody bags of harry potter stuff. It was fun, not to mention the movie was pretty great!
323/365
I just wanted to point out my outfit again. When I got home I changed, and I realized that everything I was wearing was navy blue. awesome

Have you ever tried to play this song? Just the first few measures alone are some the hardest ones I've ever played. But I love this song so much I'm determined to learn it. Plus if Katie can play it without music... I can too?
